Resumen
A 46-year-old man with a history of allergy and high cholesterol, who comes to the emergency department after experiencing repeated fainting spells. During the episodes, no tonic-clonic seizures or respiratory symptoms were observed. Evaluation revealed an elevated heart rate, but no abnormalities on pulmonary or cardiac auscultation. After admission, empiric antibiotic treatment was started, and tests indicated multifocal pulmonary consolidation compatible with atypical pneumonia. Febrile peaks and additional tests without a clear diagnosis emphasize the need to consider atypical pneumonia in cases with unusual clinical presentations, highlighting the importance of an empirical therapeutic approach and further investigations.
