Resumen
Introduction: The removal of benign tumors causes craniofacial complications, altering the anatomy and functions of the stomatognathic system. Objective: The objective of this case report is to present the comprehensive approach of a patient with a partial maxillectomy due to the surgical removal of a pleomorphic adenoma, using a prosthetic obturator for rehabilitation. Clinical findings: A 75-year-old male patient was referred to the UFM dental clinic for treatment of a postsurgical defect with well-defined margins, located on the hard palate and crossing the junction of the hard and soft palate and invading the depth of the sulcus at the anterior level, with a size of 36 mm x 44 mm. The treatment plan included restoring the upper jaw using a maxillary removable partial prosthesis with a prosthetic obturator and the lower jaw with a dentomucosal-supported removable partial denture. Conclusion: The comprehensive dental approach of the patient allowed satisfactory function and a significant improvement in the psychological health and quality of life.
