Resumen
Background: Erectile dysfunction is a common clinical condition manifested in a higher frequency in patients over 40 years old. This condition is related to many common diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus, and arterial hypertension, depression and metabolic diseases among others. Nowadays has also been attributed to life style and diet. Objective: to evaluate the relationship between abdominal circumference and erectile dysfunction in patients without any comorbidity. Design: Randomized, transversal study. Number of sample 200 male participants between 40-49 years old without any comorbidity. Regression statistical analysis performed to compare variables. Results: There is statistical evidence demonstrating a relationship between the abdominal circumference and erectile dysfunction. Finds were that 66% of participant’s didn´t have any erectile dysfunction, 13% presented low erectile dysfunction, 9% had low to moderate erectile dysfunction, 9% had moderate erectile dysfunction. Only 3% presented severe dysfunction. Conclusions: This study found a relationship between abdominal circumference and erectile dysfunction among a male population between 40 to 49 years old males without any comorbidity.
