Resumen
Introduction: Sun overexposure has been associated with the development of various skin diseases, including skin cancer. Avoiding sun exposure by employing multiple photo-protective actions has been proven to be beneficial in the prevention of skin cancer. Objective: This study will evaluate the frequency of parental photo-protective actions their children. Methodology: This was a prospective descriptive study in which a survey was filled out by parents of children aged 3-12 years. Results: More than half of the participants (64%) reported using sun protection with their children. The use of a cap was the preferred method for most participants, and the primary reported purpose of using sun protection was the prevention of skin burns. Discussion: Although the regular use of sun protection for children is frequent, it mainly consists of the use of a cap which is not an ideal method by itself.
