Introduction:  Breast milk is the food of choice for the newborn due to its multiple advantages and benefits for both the infant and mother however the decision to provide Exclusive Breastfeeding (EBF) must be properly informed since this practice’s success is dependent on multiple factors, one of them being the level of knowledge about EBF. Objective: To evaluate the knowledge of mothers about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and determine its relation to its duration.  Methodology: Descriptive and prospective study of 100 surveys carried out on mothers who attend the outpatient clinic of the Multimédica Pediatric Group and to the outpatient Pediatric clinic at the Roosevelt Hospital during the months of June and July 2019. A correlation analysis and Student’s t test were used. Results: A positive result was found in the correlation analysis with a  coefficient r =0.9993 and Student’s t test a P value of 0.0007 was obtained with a confidence level of 0.05 therefore it is possible to say that the knowledge of mothers about breastfeeding is related with its duration.
