Resumen
Introduction: According to the World Health Organization, more than 290 million women are infected with Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Establishing the lack of knowledge on this topic is important for providers at the time of patient education. Objective: To assess the difference in general knowledge on HPV between women and men of legal age, students from Santa Catarina Pinula, Municipality of the Department of Guatemala. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional study developed through 200 surveys carried out on students. Results: Student’s t-test was used for statistical analysis. The results evidenced that the mean score of the female group (10.55) is significantly higher than in the male group (9.32). Conclusion: There is statistical evidence indicating that the difference in the means between the score obtained in the group of women and men is significantly greater than zero.
