Introduction: Dry eye, sometimes called dry eye syndrome, is the dry eye that occurs when tears fail to provide the moisture necessary to keep the eye moisturized. Dry eye tends to maintain conjunctival inflammation.  Objective: To determine the prevalence of dry eye in students from the first to the sixth year of the School of Medicine of the Francisco Marroquin University (UFM). Methodology: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study in which all the students of the UFM School of Medicine were invited to participate through an electronic survey using the REDCap program.  The OSDI survey translated and validated into Spanish was applied to meet the objectives. Results:  Of the 309 students, 178 answered the survey, 125 (70.2%) obtained an OSDI score> 12 points (CI95% 62.8-76.7; p <0.05). Gender was not a risk factor. All age groups obtained a value above 50% for the prevalence of dry eye. Most people experience sensitivity to light (46.6%).  Conclusion: There is a high prevalence of dry eye (OSDI score> 12 points) in the population of medical students. It can be observed in the study, that people with dry eye present symptoms which have a marked impact on their quality of life.
