Resumen
Introduction: The permanent evaluation of continuing medical education is a vital part of any institution dedicated to train future doctors and healthcare personnel. Objective: The objective of this study is to reflect the perception of graduates of the School of Medicine at Francisco Marroquín University (UFM) about medical education. Methodology: Using the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Medical Graduation Questionnaire (GQ) as a reference, the survey was shared with alumni graduated between the years 2014 to 2019. Most of the questions were evaluated with a 5-point Likert scale. Results: In general, alumni reported being satisfied with the quality of their medical education. Among the most relevant findings, graduates perceive having obtained the necessary skills to start a residency program. The best evaluated areas in basic sciences were physiology, pathology and semiology; and in clinical sciences, gynecology and obstetrics, internal medicine, and surgery. In addition, a high rate of emotional exhaustion was reported in graduates, also perceiving a lack of support from the Faculty in academic and personal matters. Conclusion: This is the first study that evaluates the perception of medical education in the country. This study presents the perspective of graduates on medical education at the UFM School of Medicine in academic matters and in personal development.
