Resumen
Introduction: Cervical cancer is the second most prevalent type of cancer in the Guatemalan female population. Concomitant chemo-radiotherapy is a therapeutic modality used in patients with advanced stage cervical cancer. This leads to complications that put the quality of life of patients at risk. Objective: To determine the quality of life of patients using the survey for cervical cancer in patients diagnosed with locally advanced cervical cancer who are undergoing treatment with concomitant chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Methods: Prospective cross-sectional observational study, carried out with the results collected from the quality-of-life survey of 42 patients diagnosed with cervical cancer at Hospital General San Juan de Dios, Guatemala, during the year 2022. Results: The items of the survey of quality of life affected with the highest prevalence were the category of lymphedema where 40.5% of the patients obtained a score above 50 points and 52% obtained high scores for menopausal symptoms, as for activity and sexual enjoyment 95% obtained a score below 50 points. Conclusion: The most affected factors were those of functionality (sexual activity and enjoyment), menopausal symptoms and lymphedema, detrimentally impacting quality of life.
